Rick Rawls' nickname is Casper, but he didn't earn the moniker by being invisible. Quiet, yes, and not prone to spreading music-business gossip, the Helotes-raised, Helotes-based Rawls is one of Texas' most highly regarded guitarists. The late Buck Owens was a friend and a fan. So is guitar legend James Burton. Rawls' electric instrument of choice is a Fender Telecaster Parsons/White B-Bender, a specially modified model that allows him to mimic the sound of a steel guitar.
